How the SMB Truths Were Created

The SMB Truths were developed. by Preference Analytics after its co-founder moderated and analyzed hundreds of in-depth interviews with SMB owners and decision-makers across business sizes, industries, and solution categories.

Using a structured, human-centered approach similar to factor analysis (a statistical procedure), the original insights were distilled into six core trust themes - the SMB Truths.​ These Truths were then validated by examining hundreds of hours of transcripts, ensuring the themes were reliable (they consistently appear), repeatable (they held across interviews and contexts), and valid (they accurately captured what SMBs mean and value).

Importantly, America's Backbone OS doesn't force generic definitions onto SMBs. How each SMB segment defines each Truth comes directly from the raw data itself - the language, stories, and real decision logic of SMB owners.
